On behalf of the Organizing Committee (OC), it is our great pleasure and honor to welcome you to the Asia-Pacific Conference on Communications 2022 (APCC 2022) in Jeju, Korea. This year marks the 27th anniversary of APCC, which was first held in 1993 in Daejon, Korea. We have converged in many wonderful regions around the Asia-Pacific since then. But this year, we are especially delighted to invite you to Jeju Island, which was designated as a UNESCO World Natural Heritage Site in 2007 for its breathtaking scenery.

This year’s conference has been organized by the Korea Institute of Communications and Information Sciences (KICS) and co-sponsored by the IEEE Communications Society (ComSoc), Chinese Institute of Communications (CIC), and the Institute of Electronics, Information, and Communications Engineers-Communications Society (IEICE-CS). We are also excited to announce that APCC 2022 will be co-located with the International Conference on ICT Convergence (ICTC) 2022, and there are diverse joint programs planned ahead for you.

Under the theme of “Creating Innovative Communication Technologies for Post-Pandemic Era”, APCC 2022 will provide a forum for researchers and engineers from academia and industries to present and discuss cutting-edge research results and technical contributions in the field of information, communications, and networking technologies, leading us to build a smarter and safer society together. Under the current pandemic situation, APCC 2022 will be held in a hybrid format with virtual online sessions as well as on-site sessions for in-person participants.

We live in an era of super-intelligence, hyper-connection, and hyper-reality, exemplified by various ICT technologies such as the Internet of Things (IoT), mobile (5G/6G), cloud, big data, blockchain, metaverse, AR/VR, and artificial intelligence (AI). Artificial intelligence is already all around us from autonomous-driving cars to assistant robots, and there is no doubt that IoT, 5G/6G, and AI are key drivers in this digital transformation. As we discuss these very topics, you are bound to find many insights from this gathering. Anticipating that the role of satellite communication in the 6G era will become important, International Symposium on Satellite Communication Systems and Services (SCSS 2022) was specially organized as a part of the event for related fields in collaboration with SatCom Forum in Korea

We would like to express gratitude to all members of organizing committee and technical program committee (TPC) who dedicated great efforts to making this conference happen. In APCC 2022, you will find a well-organized set of technical programs elaborated by our TPC. The program covers a variety of topics on both wireless and wired communications as well as information and networking technologies. Together with ICTC, four keynote speakers and six tutorial speakers from Canada, Japan, China, Australia, Finland, New Zealand, Germany, the United States, and Korea have been invited to present their ideas and research at this conference. We have also organized industrial sessions to share the latest research and development activities straight from the industry.

We hope that all participants enjoy the excellent technical program prepared at APCC 2022 in addition to the beautiful scenery and attractions of Jeju Island.
We look forward to seeing you in Jeju!

Welcome Message from the TPC Chair

Dong Seog Han
TPC Chair
Professor, Kyungpook National University, Korea

It is our great pleasure to welcome you to Jeju Island, Korea, from Oct. 19 to 21, 2022, for the 27th Asia-Pacific Conference on Communications (APCC 2022). APCC 2022 is a valuable platform to discuss the latest research results of academic and industry experts in communications and networking from all over the world.

This year we have received 256 paper submissions from 20 countries. Many of the papers were submitted from the Asia/Pacific region, and also an increasing number of submissions were made from Europe and North America. Through a rigorous review process, all papers have been reviewed by at least three independent reviewers. After the reviews and discussions, we selected 155 technical papers for presentation at the conference. Through an in-depth review, five papers will be selected and awarded as the best papers.

This APCC 2022 focused on conveying future technology development trends to attendees in-depth. The program is designed to provide a broad range of communication technologies, including next-generation mobile technology. Through 6 keynotes, leaders from academia and industry will be able to share the prospects of 6G Technology. And four tutorials will provide in-depth knowledge of future communications technologies in 6G, Satellite Networks, and Deep Learning in Communications.

I would like to express my sincere gratitude to the authors and presenters, the TPC co-chairs, the Symposium chair and co-chairs, the Publication co-chairs, and the Awards Committee chair. I would also like to thank our co-organizer SatComForum, and sponsors, KICS, IEEE Communications Society, IEICE Communications Society, and CIC for their kind support of this successful event.

My special thanks to Professor You-Ze Cho, the General Chair, and Prof. Chung (Chris) G. Kang, Organizing Chair, for their continued guidance and support.

I sincerely hope that all of you will enjoy the splendid program of APCC 2022 as well as the beautiful scenery and charm of Jeju Island.
